Frantic Frances

Everyone seems so frazzled ... on edge ... apprehensive. We are still shell shocked from Charley and have little emotional strength left to face another hurricane. It's such a strange feeling to wait so many days...all offices and schools closed, the airport quit flying in or out at noon, a curfew in effect at 2pm tomorrow -- and yet we aren't expecting the eye of the storm before Sunday. Steve has worked to stake down all our debris that is still stacked from Charley and sandbagged our sliding doors to try to keep the flooding out. We've washed clothes all day long and stocked up on ice, gas, groceries, tarps and rope. So we wait to see what the Finicky Frances will do.

Had a hair raising experience yesterday. Went into work at 6:30 am to try to get as much printing done on the program for the women's retreat as possible before we had to wrap and move all our computers. As I unlocked the large glass door at the entrance to building 3, it fell into my arms. None of it was connected to the hinges. The only thing holding it in place was the lock. What a shock. My arms were already full of my bible, purse and lunch, and I still had to punch in the code for the alarm. Somehow I was given herculean strength to hold the door up and punch the code and get the door set back in place and locked. I was in such shock, trying to understand what was happening. I guess Charley had loosened the pins and they fell out somehow. So what a crazy week.

More later as the storm moves closer... pray for us.

We are definitely praying. It is scarier for some reason to not be there to help with everything. We love you and will talk to you in a few minutes.
