The Love-less
My sister is a foster mom. She's had four boys for several months, ages 4, 7, 12, and 15, from three different families. The two little boys have gone to live with a grandmother now, and my sister's already turned down six children in the last two weeks because she wanted to come to Orlando for the Memorial weekend. She brought the two boys plus their 15 year old friend yesterday to stay with her friend who has two teenage boys. All five boys came to swim (or should I say "wrestle") in our pool today.
She was telling me that she and the boys have become "dog walkers" and "kitty huggers" for the local pound. I said that must be really difficult, thinking of all the emotions of seeing all the lost and orphaned dogs and cats. She said, "So's fostering." Wow...she really puts into perspective the priorities of life.
Real religion, the kind that passes muster before God the Father, is this: Reach out to the homeless and loveless in their plight, and guard against corruption from the godless world. James 1:27 (The Message)
